The Aulerci are a very large people who are subdivided into three large tribes, including the Aulerci Cenomani who were located to the south-east of the Aulerci Diablintes (Mayenne basin), in the current department of Sarthe. Their city in the Gallo-Roman era, Vindunum, perpetuates their name in the form of Le Mans.
