La particularité de ce type est qu’il est drapé, buste très rare à Damas, dont un seul coin est connu.
Les différentes variantes du type à tête laurée à Damas sont en pratique des variantes de fin de légende du droit. On trouve plusieurs graveurs, dont les styles sont bien reconnaissables.
La tête de bélier, symbole de Hermes - Mercure, est le symbole de Damas aussi bien sur les tétradrachmes d’Alexandre le Grand que sur les bronzes coloniaux romains.
Les flans sont malheureusement toujours étroits et la distinction entre les variantes se fait le plus souvent par comparaison de coins.
On note que les sigma sont gravés en C.
Dans la base TSP maintenue par Michel Prieur, six exemplaires sont maintenant répertoriés, un en musée, à Paris, ex collection Seyrig. Notre exemplaire est le 1209_006.
The particularity of this type is that it is draped, a very rare bust in Damascus, of which only one die is known.
