La ville d'Avranches se situe sur le littoral sud du département de la Manche. Elle a donné son nom à ses alentours, le pays de l'Avranchin. Le peuple des Abrincates est mentionné très tardivement dans les sources antiques. Pline l'Ancien nomme ce peuple Abrincatui au premier siècle de notre ère.
The town of Avranches is located on the southern coast of the Manche department. It gave its name to its surrounding area, the Avranchin region. The Abrincates people are mentioned very late in ancient sources. Pliny the Elder named this people Abrincatui in the first century AD.
