Sans argenture. Portrait très particulier. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Ptéryges fines sous le paludamentum. Orientation des coins inhabituelle. Portrait très inhabituel, réaliste. Trace de cassure de coin visible au revers dans le champ devant la Paix. Même coin de revers que l’exemplaire du Cabinet des médailles de la BnF n° 13.408, Bastien, n° 275 a, pl. XIX. C’est le septième exemplaire publié. Prendra le numéro 275e dans le Supplément III du Bastien.

Augustus
Diocletian, born in 245 in Dalmatia (Split), is an Illyrian emperor. After having eliminated Aper, prefect of the praetorium, also father-in-law and assassin of Numérien, he put on the purple on November 20, 284.
