Комментарий

Le MIR. cite un exemplaire de ce type (383d) mais la monnaie reprise sur les planches est un 382d, sans marque dans le champ au revers. L’exemplaire noté en 383d est donc une erreur et notre type est bien un inédit avec ce buste exceptionnel !.

Augustus with Valerian I

Gallien will spend the last eight years of his life trying to put the pieces of this empire back together. Finally, he was assassinated in September 268 under the walls of Milan while besieging Aureolus, the master of the Cavalry, who revolted.
