Magzhan Zhumabayev est un écrivain et poète Kazakh né en 1893 dans le village de Sasikol dans le nord du Kazakhstan. En 1912, il publie ses premiers essais et poèmes. Entre 1923 et 1927, il étudie la littérature à Moscou. Il cherche à développer la création littéraire en langue Kazakh indépendamment des associations officielles. En 1929, il est arrêté et emprisonné pour création d’une organisation nationaliste clandestine. Relâché en 1936, il travaille comme instituteur puis en qualité de traducteur à Alma-Ata. De nouveau arrêté en 1938, il est condamné à mort et fusillé à l’âge de 44 ans.
Magzhan Zhumabayev is a Kazakh writer and poet born in 1893 in the village of Sasikol in northern Kazakhstan. In 1912, he published his first essays and poems. Between 1923 and 1927, he studied literature in Moscow. He sought to develop literary creation in the Kazakh language independently of official associations. In 1929, he was arrested and imprisoned for creating an underground nationalist organization. Released in 1936, he worked as a schoolteacher and then as a translator in Alma-Ata. Arrested again in 1938, he was sentenced to death and shot at the age of 44.
