GALLIA - SOUTH-WESTERN GAUL - TOLOSATES (Area of Vieille-Toulouse)

The Tolosates, component of the Volques Tectosages, occupied the region of Tolosa (Old Toulouse). They would have been submitted after 105 BC by Quintus Servilius Cæpio. This episode would be at the origin of the myth of the gold of Toulouse "aurum Tolosanum". Tolosa, their capital was included in the province of Narbonnaise, bordering independent Gaul before the Gallic war.
