Ce bronze n’est pas une imitation servile du statère d’or à l’epsilon des Nerviens, mais une adaptation du prototype (DT. 178-179 = LT. 8755-8746). Le bronze est simplifié par rapport à l’original. Parfois interprétés comme étant un faux d’époque, ce bronze appartient bien à une série à part dont l’attribution aux Viromanduens est très probable !.
This bronze is not a slavish imitation of the golden stater with the epsilon of the Nerviens, but an adaptation of the prototype (DT. 178-179 = LT. 8755-8746). The bronze is simplified compared to the original. Sometimes interpreted as being a period forgery, this bronze belongs to a separate series whose attribution to the Viromanduans is very probable!
