NAMUR - NAMUR COUNTY - PHILIPPE LE BON

(1433-1467)

Philip the Good (1396-1467), son of John the Fearless and Margaret of Bavaria, succeeded his father after the assassination of Montereau in 1419. It combines with Henry V of England to oppose the dolphin he considers responsible for the death of his father and is the instigator of the Treaty of Troyes in 1420. He married Michelle in 1409 of France who was assassinated in 1422, then in 1424 Bonne d'Artois, who died the following year, and finally Isabella of Portugal (1397-1472) in 1429.
