Vardanes is the son of Artaban II (10-38). He had to face the revolt of his brother Gotarzès II (40-51) who disputed the throne with him. Vardanes regains possession of Seleucia before dying assassinated while hunting. His brother remains the undisputed master of the Parthian kingdom.
