GERMANY - KINGDOM OF PRUSSIA - GUILLAUME I

(2/01/1861-9/03/1888)

William I was the second son of Frederick William III and brother of Frederick William IV. It is regent for his brother since 1856 when he succeeded him in 1861. He married Augusta of Saxe-Weimar whom he has two children Frederick III. With his minister Otto von Bismarck, he will achieve German unity. The Austro-Prussian War of 1866 with the victory of the Sadowa rid of Austria and strengthens the Confederation of North Germany.
