Ce denier est frappé sur un flan voilé et présente des faiblesses de frappe. Exemplaire recouvert d’une légère patine grise et présentant une petite fente

En raison des faiblesses de frappe du revers nous n’avons pas pu déterminé l’atelier émetteur ainsi que le nom du monnayeur.

ENGLAND - EDWARD THE CONFESSOR
(1042-1066)
Edward the Confessor (1004-1042-1066) succeeded Hathacnut and was crowned at Winchester. Son of Æthelred, he represented the House of Wessex, but no longer resembled the early Anglo-Saxon kings. He was half-Norman through his mother Emma, the daughter of Duke Richard. He was not a great politician, preferring to hunt and indulge in religious asceticism. It will be sanctified in 1161 by Thomas Beckett, Archbishop of Canterbury. By dying childless, he would have designated Harold to succeed him but this one will be beaten in Hastings the same year by William the Conqueror who invaded the island from Normandy.
