Le groupe VERNUS est d’un style très caractéristique et se dégage nettement des monnaies au porc-épic, même si les restes de la chevelure sont encore visibles.
Cet exemplaire n’a pas la légende visible, mais il est exactement du même type que la fig. a page 142 du catalogue d’Oxford.

ENGLAND - ANGLO-SAXONS
(7th - 8th centuries)
If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
