Историческая справка

(393-323 BC)

After the fall of Athens in 404 BC and the establishment of the oligarchy of the Thirty Tyrants in the Spartan hegemony, the city lost its maritime empire, saw its fleet and confiscated the Long Walls dismantled. Democracy is restored the following year, but Athens is folded on itself. Socrates is forced to absorb the hemlock (399 AC.). Athens takes his place with Conon. It relies primarily on the Persians, then allied with Sparta against Thebes (378 AC.). A new maritime confederation was formed the following year. The Spartans fought to Naxos (376 AC.). Athens sign peace with Sparta and turns against Thebes. From 357 BC, it faces a revolt of his allies and the rise of Philip II of Macedonia, after the Amphipolis. The Athenians were finally defeated at Chaeronea in 338 BC before falling under the Macedonian domination.
