Médaille signée J. S. & A. B. WYON pour Joseph-Shepherd Wyon et Alfred-Benjamin Wyon.
Pour cette exposition, il y avait deux tailles de médailles de bronze ; les petites de 51mm et la plus grande de 76 mm. Elles ont été pproduites par la société britannique Wyon et présentent la qualité exceptionnelle de cette société.

L'Exposition universelle de 1879 tenue à Sydney en Australie est la première qui s’est tenue dans l'hémisphère sud. La foire n’est pas officiellement reconnue par le Bureau international des expositions. L’exposition est inaugurée le 18 septembre 1879 et s'est étalée sur sept mois pour se clôturer en juin 1880. Conçu par l'architecte James Barnet, le Garden Palace, long de 244 mètres et d'une superficie au sol de 112 000 m², était le bâtiment principal de la foire et était complété par d'autres bâtiments plus petits. L'exposition a comptabilisé 1 045 898 visiteurs.
Après la fermeture de l'exposition, le Garden Palace a été transformé en musée, le Musée technologique, industriel et sanitaire mais fut totalement détruit par un incendie le 22 septembre 1882..
Medal signed JS & AB WYON for Joseph-Shepherd Wyon and Alfred-Benjamin Wyon. For this exhibition, there were two sizes of bronze medals; the small ones measuring 51mm and the larger one measuring 76mm. They were produced by the British company Wyon and showcase the exceptional quality of this company. The 1879 World's Fair held in Sydney, Australia, was the first to be held in the Southern Hemisphere. The fair was not officially recognized by the Bureau International des Expositions. The exhibition opened on September 18, 1879, and ran for seven months, closing in June 1880. Designed by architect James Barnet, the Garden Palace, 244 meters long and with a floor area of 112,000 m², was the main building of the fair and was complemented by other smaller buildings. The exhibition attracted 1,045,898 visitors. After the exhibition closed, the Garden Palace was converted into a museum, the Technological, Industrial and Sanitary Museum, but was completely destroyed by fire on September 22, 1882.
