Example with a theoretical weight of 14 grams (?). Struck with repolished dies that give the flan a characteristic domed appearance. Late example probably struck under the Consulate. The concession for this canal, also called the Canal des Deux-Mers or the Forez, was granted in 1761 by royal decree to François Zacharie. His son Guillaume took over the business and organized it into a company in 1774. The company obtained a perpetual concession in 1788; the canal had been in operation since 1780. The canal was purchased by the State in 1886. The tokens are the work of Benjamin Duvivier, but it should be noted that strikes were made until 1804 with a theoretical weight of 13.38 grams. Other strikes with theoretical weights of 14 and 15 grams were made.
