Комментарий

Dès 1872, un plan de réorganisation de la frontière de l’Est est décidé. Le Général Séré de Rivières le 20 Juillet 1872 donne l’ordre d’étudier la construction d’un fort sur la commune de Montfaucon. Le projet définitif est approuvé par le Ministre le 24 Juillet 1874. L’établissement du fort a été déclaré d’utilité publique et d’urgence par décret du 2 Mai 1874.

As early as 1872, a plan to reorganize the eastern border was decided upon. General Séré de Rivières on July 20, 1872 gave the order to study the construction of a fort in the commune of Montfaucon. The final project was approved by the Minister on July 24, 1874. The establishment of the fort was declared of public utility and emergency by decree of May 2, 1874.
