(1196-1276)
Pierre is the son of Sancie of Castile and Alphonse II of Aragon. In 1196, on the death of his father, he ascended the throne of Aragon under the name of Peter II (Peter I for the county of Barcelona). In 1204 he married Marie, daughter of Guillaume de Montpellier. From this union was born Jacques I who succeeded his father in 1213.
