Charles the Bald

(20/06/840-6/10/877)

Charles the Bald became king on the death of his father, Louis the Pious, 20 June 840. The Treaty of Verdun in 843, the Carolingian empire was divided between the three son Louis. Lothar receives Lotharingia, Louis the German and Charles Francia Orientalis Francia Occidentalis.
