Ce jeton est le seul répertorié par Feuardent pour ce duc dont il présente le portrait dans un style très louisquatorzien.
Charles V Léopold de Lorraine, appelé parfois le duc sans duché, né à Vienne le 3 avril 1643, mort à Wels (Autriche) le 18 avril 1690, fut duc de Lorraine et de Bar en titre de 1675 à 1690.
Il était fils de Nicolas François, brièvement duc de Lorraine, et de Claude de Lorraine.
Le jeune Charles était destiné à une vie ecclésiastique, et fut nommé grand prévôt du chapitre de Saint-Dié dès 1648, puis abbé de Gorze en 1649. Mais la mort de son frère aîné en 1659 le fait héritier du trône ducal de Lorraine, et il renonce à sa carrière religieuse pour se rendre disponible.
Il vit d'abord à la cour de France, résidant à Paris au Palais du Louvre. Très proche de sa cousine Marguerite-Louise d'Orléans, il doit pourtant renoncer à elle lorsqu'elle épouse le grand-duc de Toscane Cosme III; il l'accompagne dans son voyage jusqu'à la frontière italienne.
Fiancé en 1662 à Marie Jeanne Baptiste de Savoie, parente du roi Louis XIV, il voit ses vues contrariées de nouveau : en 1665 il s'oppose ouvertement au traité de Montmartre, par lequel son oncle Charles IV, contraint et forcé par les armes, cède la Lorraine et le Barrois à la France. Les fiançailles sont alors rompues; le jeune Charles quitte la cour de France, et se réfugie auprès de l'empereur Léopold Ier, la Lorraine étant terre d'Empire.

Charles V Leopold of Lorraine, sometimes called the Duke without a Duchy, born in Vienna on April 3, 1643, died in Wels (Austria) on April 18, 1690, was Duke of Lorraine and Bar in title from 1675 to 1690.
He was the son of Nicolas François, briefly Duke of Lorraine, and Claude of Lorraine.
The young Charles was destined for an ecclesiastical life, and was appointed grand provost of the chapter of Saint-Dié in 1648, then abbot of Gorze in 1649. But the death of his elder brother in 1659 made him heir to the ducal throne of Lorraine, and he renounced his religious career to make himself available.
He first lived at the court of France, residing in Paris at the Louvre Palace. Very close to his cousin Marguerite-Louise d'Orléans, he nevertheless had to renounce her when she married the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo III; he accompanied her on her journey to the Italian border.
Engaged in 1662 to Marie Jeanne Baptiste de Savoie, a relative of King Louis XIV, he saw his views thwarted again: in 1665 he openly opposed the Treaty of Montmartre, by which his uncle Charles IV, forced by force of arms, ceded Lorraine and Barrois to France.. The engagement was then broken off; the young Charles left the court of France and took refuge with Emperor Leopold I, Lorraine being an Imperial territory..
