Albin was proclaimed in April 193, at the latest in May. After the elimination of Dide Julien, he was content with the title of Caesar subordinated to Septimius Severus. In 194, Albin was consul for the second time with Septimius Severus. The rupture is consummated after the victory of Septimius Severus over Pescennius Niger. Albin, who remained in Rome, proclaimed himself august.
