Exemplaire sur un flan régulier, bien centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait. Très joli revers, légèrement décentré sur la marque d’atelier. Patine gris foncé avec des reflets métalliques

Poids léger. Avec des traces d’argenture superficielle. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités perlées. Le diadème est terminé par un cabochon rond et semble orné d’un cabochon perlé. Ptéryges fines. Même coin de revers que l’exemplaire du Fitzwillam Museum de Cambridge, Bastien, n° 121b, pl. IX. Prendra le numéro 121 e dans le Supplément III du Bastien.
Lightweight. With traces of surface silvering. Type 3 ribbons with beaded ends. The diadem is finished with a round cabochon and appears to be adorned with a beaded cabochon. Thin pteryges. Same reverse die as the example in the Fitzwillam Museum, Cambridge, Bastien, no. 121b, pl. IX. Will take the number 121e in Supplement III of Bastien

Augustus
Constantius II was born on August 7, 318 in Sirmium. He was raised to the cesarat on November 8, 324 at the age of six. He will reign 37 years, one of the longest reigns of the 4th century. After having crushed the revolt of Magnentius, he was alone august with a Caesar, Constance Galle, whom he had executed in 354. On November 6, 355, he elevated his cousin Julian to the title of Caesar. He went to Rome in 357, then to Sirmium, which he made his capital. Faced with the Sassanid danger, he left this region in 359 and settled in Antioch. Julien is proclaimed august in February 360. Constantius dies on November 3, 361, leaving Julien at the head of the Empire.
