Комментарий

Cet exemplaire est placé par Calciati dans les incertaines car ce statère ne porte ni au droit ni au revers de marque d’ethnique.La tête d’Acheloos au revers pourrait laisser penser à un atelier acarnanien ou étolien.
This example is placed by Calciati in the uncertain because this stater bears neither on the right nor on the reverse any ethnic mark. The head of Acheloos on the reverse could suggest an Acarnanian or Aetolian workshop

During the Peloponnesian War (431-404 AC.) it was, with Sparta, one of the most implacable enemies of Athens. Corinth succeeded in maintaining its independence against the suffocating domination of the Macedonians. At the end of the reign of Philip II of Macedon (359-336 AC.), it allied itself with Athens and Thebes and was defeated at the battle of Chaeronea in 338 BC. Philip maintained its autonomy..
