bga_264835 - ELUSATES (Area of the Gers) Obole uniface à l’oiseau

Cette obole serait difficilement identifiable, si la comparaison n'avait pas été faite avec l’oiseau présent au-dessus du cheval sur les premières émissions de drachmes élusates !
Ces premières frappes ont été étudiées par J.-C. Richard dans son article “Du nouveau sur les premières monnaies élusates (BN. 3587-3601)”. Notre oiseau présent sur cette obole correspond exactement à celui qui orne les deux drachmes lourdes illustrées pas L. Villaronga (et reprises par J.-C. Richard).
This obol would be difficult to identify if the comparison had not been made with the bird present above the horse on the first issues of Elusate drachmas! These first strikes were studied by J.-C. Richard in his article “New information on the first Elusate coins (BN. 3587-3601)”. Our bird present on this obol corresponds exactly to the one which adorns the two heavy drachmas illustrated by L. Villaronga (and taken up by J.-C. Richard)
