Suite à la Révolte des Cipayes en Inde, le Raj Britannique récupère en 1858 l’administration des territoires autrefois dirigés par la East India Company dont les établissements des détroits. En 1867, ces derniers deviennent une colonie de la Couronne Britannique.
Following the Indian Mutiny in India, the British Raj took over the administration of the territories formerly ruled by the East India Company in 1858, including the Straits Settlements. In 1867, the latter became a British Crown Colony.
