Flan très large, mais irrégulier, légèrement échancré. Très beau portrait inhabituel. Revers de haut relief.

Gordian III is the grandson of Gordian I and the nephew of Gordian II, ephemeral emperors of the year 238. At the request of the people of Rome, he is chosen as Caesar by Balbin and Pupian and succeeds them after their assassinations.
