Georges IV (12/09/1762-25/06/1830) est le fils aîné de Georges III et de Charlotte de Mecklembourg. Après une jeunesse dépravée, il devient Régent en 1810 quand la démence de son père est trop grave. Il épouse Caroline de Brunswick (1768-1821). Leur fille unique Charlotte (1796-1817) épouse Léopold de Saxe-Cobourg, le futur roi des Belges. Ses frères Guillaume IV et Ernest-Auguste sont respectivement roi d'Angleterre et roi de Hanovre. Sa nièce Victoria devient reine. Georges IV est un ultra-conservateur, ennemi juré de Napoléon et traitre à la parole donnée à l'Empereur qu'il laisse déporter à l'île de Sainte-Hélène. Il s'appuie sur Wellington pour gouverner.
