Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type de monnayage sur un flan ovale et irrégulier, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Très beau portrait particulier d’Hélène de haut relief. Revers de toute beauté, finement détaillé. Patine marron glacé avec des reflets métalliques. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Wife of Constantius I, mother of Constantine I - Augusta

Helena, mother of Constantine and first wife of Constantius Chlorus, received the title of augusta in 324. After the death of Fausta and Crispus, she went to the Holy Land. In Jerusalem, she discovered remains of the true cross and founded many institutions. She died in 328, was sanctified and entered in the calendar.
