Flan large et frappe parfaitement centrée au droit, mais très légèrement décalée au revers. Une contremarque triangulaire est à signaler sous le cheval, au-dessus de la légende. Le droit présente une superbe patine sombre et brillante alors que la patine est un peu plus hétérogène au revers

Cet exemplaire est également classé R5 par L. Villaronga. D’une qualité exceptionnelle, ce bronze permet une parfaite lecture tant du droit que du revers.
Au revers, le pégase semble plus stylisé que sur la monnaie précédente. La même remarque peut être faite pour la tête d’Athéna avec son casque en deux gros globules et toute une série de cordons perlés qui ornent le champ.

On the reverse, the Pegasus appears more stylized than on the previous coin. The same observation can be made for the head of Athena with her helmet in two large globules and a whole series of pearl cords that adorn the field.

INDIGETES - EMPORIA / UNTIKESKEN (Province of Girona - Ampurias)
(1st century BC)
The Greek Emporion, the Roman Ampurias (Empúries in Catalan), today San Martin de Ampurias was founded around 580 BC, perhaps by Rhodian colonists like Rosas (Rhodè) or Phocaeans like Marseilles whose the foundations are contemporary. It was one of the most important ports in the Western Mediterranean. Emporia's Celtiberian name was Untikesken. After native issues, the city adopted the Latin alphabet. The coinage is late, between Caesar and Augustus. Emporia seems to have received the "municipium", during Augustus' journey in 27 or 25 BC. For the authors of the RPC, this right could already have been granted to it by Caesar, and only confirmed by Augustus. A very large number of aces were countermarked (cf., RPC. op. cit. p. 106-107).
