Louis (1538-1586), Cardinal d'Este, is the second son of the Duke of Modena Hercule II (1508-1559), Duke of Ferrara, and Renée de France (1510-1575), the daughter of Louis XII and d 'Anne de Bretagne, whom he married in 1528.
