Exemplaire issu du médaillier Franklin qui met à l’honneur un tableau de Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, La Baigneuse Valpinçon : Le tableau représente une femme nue, vue de dos, coiffée d'un turban et assise sur le rebord d'un lit, baignée par une lumière diffuse. Elle constitue le sujet unique du tableau, encadrée par des tentures dont les plis verticaux mettent en valeur la sinuosité des lignes de son corps. Les lignes du corps sont pures, Ingres évitant volontairement de trop mettre en avant l'ossature. Les références d'Ingres pour cette œuvre sont multiples. On cite Raphaël, qu'il admirait par-dessus tout, avec l'une des Grâces qu'il peignit dans la loggia de Psyché à la villa Farnésine mais également une gravure du Coucher à l'italienne de Jacob van Loo (tableau conservé au musée des beaux-arts de Lyon), qui représente lui aussi une femme nue vue de dos.

Ce tableau est conservé au musée du Louvre à Paris.

Théoriquement, le poinçon crabe est censé indiquer un titrage à 800 millièmes.
example from the Franklin medallist, which showcases a painting by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, The Bather Valpinçon: The painting depicts a nude woman, seen from behind, wearing a turban and sitting on the edge of a bed, bathed in diffused light. She is the sole subject of the painting, framed by drapes whose vertical folds highlight the sinuous lines of her body. The lines of the body are pure, Ingres deliberately avoiding overly highlighting the skeleton. Ingres's references for this work are numerous. Raphael, whom he admired above all, is cited, with one of the Graces he painted in the loggia of Psyche at the Villa Farnesina, but also an engraving of Jacob van Loo's Italianate Coucher (painting preserved at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon), which also depicts a nude woman seen from behind.
