The Licinia gens is a plebeian family from Rome. Lucius Licinius Macer is a historian of the first half of the 1st century BC. Annalist, he wrote a history of Rome in 16 books, of which only fragments remain. He is also a brilliant speaker. Quaestor in 78 BC, tribune of the plebs in 73 then praetor in 68 BC, he became provincial governor.
