Marie-Antoinette was born in Vienna on December 2, 1755. She is the fourth daughter of Emperor Francis I and Maria Theresa of Austria. Choiseul negotiated his marriage with the Dauphin Louis. The marriage was celebrated in Versailles on May 16, 1770. After the death of Louis XV, the Dauphin Louis ascended the throne of France under the name of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette became Queen of France.
