bmv_424739 - MEROVINGIAN COINS - indeterminate MINT Triens indéterminé, VIVARIINSIS monétaire

Cette monnaie est assez intriguante, avec une légende MONITARIVS au droit, qui vient compléter celle du revers avec le nom du monétaire VIVARIINSIS. Quelques autres monnaies portent le nom d’un côté et la fonction de l’autre, mais aucune ne correspond à ce triens.
Les lettres VI en cantonnement de la croix peuvent faire penser à une origine de la Civitas Viennensium, mais quelques autres ateliers en dehors de la civitas ont aussi ces deux lettres, comme Gaciaco (??), Clémont (Cher), Izernore (Ain) Albens (Savoie), Besancon (Doubs), Artonne (Puy-de-Dôme), Saint-Maurice-d'Agaune (Valais).
Si la lecture du revers était RIVARIINSIS, nous aurions un triens de Rivarennes (Indre), mais l’initiale du revers ne correspond par au R bien net en cinquièe position.
A. Pol nous signale aussi une découverte récente en Allemagne d’un triens VARINNAVI / AVDORICOM... peut-être pourrions nous y voir une origine commune ?.
This coin is quite intriguing, with a legend MONITARIVS on the obverse, which complements that of the reverse with the name of the minter VIVARIINSIS. Some other coins bear the name on one side and the function on the other, but none correspond to this triens. The letters VI in the canton of the cross may suggest an origin from the Civitas Viennensium, but some other mints outside the civitas also have these two letters, such as Gaciaco (??), Clémont (Cher), Izernore (Ain) Albens (Savoie), Besancon (Doubs), Artonne (Puy-de-Dôme), Saint-Maurice-d'Agaune (Valais). If the reading of the reverse were RIVARIINSIS, we would have a triens from Rivarennes (Indre), but the initial of the reverse does not correspond to the clear R in fifth position. A. Pol also points out a recent discovery in Germany of a VARINNAVI / AVDORICOM triens... perhaps we could see a common origin there?
