En 1884, la partie nord-est de la Nouvelle Guinée est annexée par l’Allemagne, sous le nom de Kaiser-Wilhems-Land. En 1914, ce territoire est occupé par les troupes australiennes. In 1884, the northeastern part of New Guinea was annexed by Germany under the name Kaiser-Wilhems-Land. In 1914, this territory was occupied by Australian troops. This territory became the Territory of New Guinea under Australian mandate of the League of Nations. In 1949, it was annexed to the Territory of Papua.
