Le Mercure Galant (janvier 1680) donne l'explication suivante de ce revers : "Comme le cerf acquiert de nouvelles forces lorsqu'il se défait de son vieux bois pour en reprendre un nouveau, de même l'officier qui paye le droit annuel est assuré de ne point manquer. Buste très rare en argent.
