Историческая справка

NETHERLANDS - UNITED PROVINCES

(1581-1795)

NETHERLANDS - UNITED PROVINCES

The United Provinces is the name taken by the seven northern provinces with Calvinist dominance of the Seventeen Provinces or Spanish Netherlands from 1579 to 1795. These provinces concluded on January 23, 1579 the Union of Utrecht consecrating their secession from to the Spanish crown. It was not until July 26, 1581, by the Act of The Hague, that they really constituted themselves into a state. Spain recognizes the independence of the United Provinces by the Treaty of Münster (May 1648). In 1795, the creation of the Batavian Republic marks the end of the United Provinces.
