Ce type de denier est attribué à Antrain dans les principaux ouvrages de référence. Certains auteurs ont proposé Saint-Denis. Pendant le règne de Pépin (751-768), un atelier monétaire fonctionnait toujours dans le monastère de Saint-Denis, comme semble en témoigner l'épreuve de coins monétaires retrouvée dans le comblement de la tranchée de l'aqueduc. La plaque de plomb, de forme irrégulière, porte l'empreinte en relief des deux coins qu'un "tailleur" testait avant de passer à la frappe des pièces. Les coins correspondent à un denier qui porte au droit le monogramme RP (rex Pippinus) et, au revers sur trois lignes, la légende AVT/TRA/NO, dont le développement, en antistitio regio Dionusiaco ("par le fait de l'abbatiat royal de Saint-Denis"), reste controversé. Le nom d’Auttramnus a aussi été proposé...

Un exemplaire en bien moins bon état, mais de même type a été proposé dans la vente Inumis 9, n° 362 et resté invendu à 3500€. Les deux exemplaires de la fameuse collection Chwartz ont trouvé acquéreur respectivement à 9800€ (pour l’exemplaire provenant de la collection A. Trampitsch) et 3800€ pour l’autre.
This type of coin is attributed to Antrain in the main reference works. Some authors have proposed Saint-Denis. During the reign of Pepin (751-768), a mint still operated in the monastery of Saint-Denis, as seems to be evidenced by the proof of monetary dies found in the filling of the aqueduct trench.. The irregularly shaped lead plate bears the raised imprint of the two dies that a \\\"cutter\\\" tested before striking the coins.. The dies correspond to a denarius which bears on the obverse the monogram RP (rex Pippinus) and, on the reverse on three lines, the legend AVT/TRA/NO, the development of which, in antistitio regio Dionusiaco (\\\"by the act of the royal abbey of Saint-Denis\\\"), remains controversial.. The name Auttramnus has also been proposed. . .

Pépin le Bref was born in Jupille (Belgium) around 715 from the union of Charles Martel and Rothrud. On October 22, 741, on the death of his father, he became Duke of Neustria, Burgundy and Provence while his older brother Carloman held Austrasia. In 747, Carloman retired to a monastery and left his territories to Pepin who administered them under the authority of the "lazy" king Childeric III. In November 1751, Pépin obtained from Pope Zacharie the dismissal of Childeric III, which marked the end of the Merovingian dynasty; he is crowned king at Soissons by Saint Boniface. On July 27, 754, Pepin the Brief was crowned king of the Franks in the basilica of Saint-Denis by Pope Stephen II. His two sons and heirs, Carloman and Charles (future Charlemagne), are also crowned on the same day. Founder of the Carolingian dynasty, after having been at the origin of the creation of the Papal States and having fought the Saracens, Pépin died on September 24, 768 in Saint-Denis.
