PHOENICIA - TRIPOLIS

Tripoli of Lebanon, the ancient Tripolis was jointly founded by three of the main cities of Phoenicia: Arados, Sidon and Tyr. It was placed halfway on the coast between Arados and Byblos. The city did not obtain its autonomy until late at the end of the 2nd century BC, in 112-111 BC, although coins are already known from the beginning of the 2nd century BC.
