Monnaie frappée sur un flan un peu court avec des types bien centrés. Droit incomplet mais très beau revers de frappe vigoureuse avec son brillant de frappe. Patine de collection ancienne

Ces rares drachmes avec chevaux superposés au revers sont divisées en trois séries (A pour droit et revers à droite, B pour droit et revers à gauche et C pour droit à droite et revers à gauche). Pour cette série A1, l’étude de la RN 1996 porte sur les cinq exemplaires de la BN (n° 5986, 5989-5992) et les trois de Nantes. Au total, nous avons recensé 9 exemplaires de cette série passés sur le marché.
Cet exemplaire a un revers bien net avec les chevaux encadrés par un fleuron au-dessus et un autre entre les jambes.

L'attribution proposée dans le Nouvel Atlas est aux Bituriges, de même que les drachmes dites "au cavalier ailé des Pictons". Si l'attribution aux Pictons n'est pas totalement satisfaisante pour ces drachmes "aux deux chevaux", tout attribuer aux Bituriges nous semble assez arbitraire….
These rare drachmas with horses superimposed on the reverse are divided into three series (A for obverse and reverse on the right, B for obverse and reverse on the left and C for obverse on the right and reverse on the left). For this A1 series, the RN 1996 study covers the five examples from the BN (nos. 5986, 5989-5992) and the three from Nantes. In total, we have identified 9 examples of this series on the market. This example has a very clear reverse with the horses framed by a fleuron above and another between the legs. The attribution proposed in the New Atlas is to the Bituriges, as are the drachmas called \\\"with the winged rider of the Pictons\\\". If the attribution to the Pictons is not entirely satisfactory for these drachmas \\\"with two horses\\\", attributing everything to the Bituriges seems rather arbitrary to us...
