Ce denier est frappé sur un flan large et irrégulier. Exemplaire présentant quelques faiblesses de frappe et recouvert d’une patine grise de médaillier

En raison du nom du monétaire ARINOBERTO, ce type monétaire peut-être rapproché de la région de Poitiers. De nombreux exemplaire avec un grand E oncial ont été frappé en Poitou et certainement en abondance vers Melle et ses environs.

(late 7th - early 8th century)
Many denarii from Poitiers have a radiated head, as in Orleans. These denarii were struck at the end of the 7th and the beginning of the 8th century, since they are found in the treasury of Plassac (Gironde) hidden around 710-730. The Merovingian coinage of the Poitevine region is quite diversified, with triens and a wide variety of denarii. The proximity of the silver mines of Melle is certainly no coincidence.
