Ce denier est frappé sur un flan court et irrégulier. Les reliefs sont plus nets au droit qu’au revers. Le droit a été frappé avec un coin présentant une cassure au niveau de la tête

The Melle workshop, in the south-east of Deux-Sèvres, was important in the Carolingian period and seems to have been in operation from the Merovingian period. The silver-lead mines are still accessible and can be visited by a wide public.
