On March 20, 1811, Napoleon's wishes were fulfilled when Marie-Louise of Austria gave birth to the heir he had so desired and who had pushed him to divorce Joséphine de Beauharnais.. Napoleon-François-Joseph-Charles is, through his mother, the great-grandnephew of Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI — whom his father, Napoleon, called \\\"my uncle\\\". Marie-Louise's maternal grandmother was Queen Marie-Caroline of Austria-Lorraine, sister of Queen Marie-Antoinette, Queen of Naples and wife of a Prince of Bourbon of Spain, descendant of Philip V, grandson of Louis XIV, and her maternal grandfather was Leopold II, brother of Marie-Antoinette..

In the competition opened by the Institute in 1809, he won the second grand prize for medal engraving.. In his all too short career, he only had time to execute a few medals, among others a head of Napoleon, the Marriage of Napoleon and Marie-Louise, the Birth of the King of Rome, Fabius Cunctator, Egypt conquered. The corners of these medals and an album of drawings were deposited by the family of M. Jouannin at the Saint-Brieuc museum. This young artist died on June 30, 1813, in his native town, leaving behind the materials for a work devoted to engraving and sculpture, and regretting not being able to apply his ideas on the progress of these two arts..
