Série regroupant 9 pièces: les 8 pièces Euro Saint-Marin 2010 de 1 cent à 2 Euro et en supplément une pièce de 5 Euro en argent dont le théme est le “400ème anniversaire de la mort de Caravage”. À l’avers de la pièce de 5 Euro reproduction du portrait du Caravage par Ottavio Leoni (vers 1621).

Series comprising 9 coins: the 8 San Marino Euro coins 2010 from 1 cent to 2 Euro and in addition a 5 Euro silver coin whose theme is the “400th anniversary of the death of Caravaggio”. On the obverse of the 5 Euro coin is a reproduction of the portrait of Caravaggio by Ottavio Leoni (circa 1621).

SAN MARINO
(13th century - nowadays)
The small republic of San Marino, south of Rimini, has been free since the 13th century. In the 15th century, it gave itself a Grand Council of sixty members recruited from the nobility and the bourgeoisie. In the 19th century it was a bastion for revolutionaries and it placed itself under the protection of the new Italian kingdom from 1862, which respected its independence. The members of the Grand Council are elected for four years by universal suffrage (introduced in 1909); two of them exercise executive power as captains-regent for six months.
