Médaille sous capsule.
En 1963, le président américain John F. Kennedy se rend à Berlin-Ouest, une ville divisée par le mur de Berlin depuis 1961. Lors d’un discours resté célèbre, il déclare : « Ich bin ein Berliner » (« Je suis un Berlinois »). Par cette phrase, Kennedy exprime la solidarité des États-Unis avec les habitants de Berlin-Ouest, encerclés par le régime communiste de la RDA. Ce discours devient un symbole fort de la lutte pour la liberté pendant la Guerre froide

In a famous speech, he declared: \\\"Ich bin ein Berliner\\\" (\\\"I am a Berliner\\\"). The Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) established its capital in Bonn until reunification.
