The mace appears to be a signum for this issue since it appears on both the obverse and reverse. This symbol is normally associated with Hercules. For this type, Mr. Crawford noted an estimate of six obverse dies and eight reverse dies. Mr. Crawford also notes that Bahrfelt noted sixteen examples while Hersch listed fifty-one examples and that six didrachms were known from the hoards. The authors of the Haeberlin collection catalog (Adolph E. Cahn and Adolph Hess) noted the style of this didrachm (Schön Feiner Still). This type is one of the rarest in Roman coinage of Greek origin.
