Историческая справка

ROMANUS II

9/11/959 - 15/03/963

Roman II is the son of Constantine VII. Associated to the throne by his father from April 6, 945, he succeeded him without any opposition on his death on November 9, 959. Under the influence of his wife Theophano, he associated their two sons, the future Basil II and Constantine VIII. He was only a puppet during his current reign. Roman II died at the age of twenty-four on March 15, 963. Nicephorus II Phocas, a brilliant general who became famous by retaking Crete from the Arabs and making successful incursions as far as Aleppo, succeeded him on August 16, 963 after an interregnum of six months and married the widow of Romain II, becoming the father-in-law and the regent of the two sons of Romain II.
