Ce triens est du même type que le n° 4041 du Belfort, avec les mêmes légendes, mais le traitement du droit varie légèrement, surtout au niveau du manteau. Le début de la légende a été parfois mal compris, l'esse initiale se confondant sur certains exemplaires avec le manteau, à la base du cou.
La première monnaie mérovingienne de Saint-Yrieix semble être celle de CHLOTARIVS (B. 4038). Le droit porte la légende AREDI... Les triens frappés à Saint-Yrieix ont tous une épigraphie plus ou moins déformée de SCO AREDI (pour Sancto Aredi) FIT. Le seul monétaire semble être BAVDOLENVS, dont cinq triens différents sont répertoriés dans le Belfort, avec diverses épigraphies (BAVDOLENO M, BAVDOLEFIVS M ou VADOLENO MO). Le revers est typique, avec le double grènetis qui ne serait adopté, d'après J. Lafaurie, qu'à partir de Caribert II (629-632) sur les monnaies d'Aquitaine. Les triens avec cette caractéristique seraient postérieurs à ce règne. L'interprétation les lettres L E pourrait être la même que ceux avec LEMO cités pour la monnaie d'Uzerche (LEMOVICAS CIVI).
This triens is of the same type as Belfort No. 4041, with the same legends, but the treatment of the obverse varies slightly, especially at the level of the mantle. The beginning of the legend has sometimes been misunderstood, the initial esse being confused on some examples with the mantle, at the base of the neck. The first Merovingian coin of Saint-Yrieix seems to be that of CHLOTARIVS (B. 4038). The obverse bears the legend AREDI... The triens struck at Saint-Yrieix all have a more or less distorted epigraphy of SCO AREDI (for Sancto Aredi) FIT. The only coin seems to be BAVDOLENVS, of which five different triens are listed in Belfort, with various epigraphies (BAVDOLENO M, BAVDOLEFIVS M or VADOLENO MO). The reverse is typical, with the double beading which, according to J. Lafaurie, was only adopted from Caribert II (629-632) on the coins of Aquitaine. The triens with this characteristic would be later than this reign. The interpretation of the letters LE could be the same as those with LEMO cited for the coin of Uzerche (LEMOVICAS CIVI)
