Iaitia, city Sicule was a rocky outcrop, located near Panorme. Under Carthaginian influence in the 5th and 4th century BC, the city passed under the control of Pyrrhus in 278 BC. During the first Punic war, Iaitia was in the Carthaginian camp. After the capture of Panorme in 250 BC the city surrendered to the consul L. Caecilius Metellus and became a tributary of Rome.
