Exemplaire sur un petit flan ovale, parfaitement centré de haut relief, légèrement décentré au droit sur l’un des visages. Très beau revers ramassé, de joli style, bien venu à la frappe servi par une très jolie patine de collection ancienne

THRACE - ISTROS

(4th - 2nd century BC)

Istros, a Milesian colony, located equidistant from Callatis and the mouths of the Danube, is in Lower Moesia. The Greek name gave its Latin name to the Danube (Danuvius). The two juvenile heads, comparable to the Dioscuri (Gemini), represent the mouths of the Danube (Ister).
